The education system in Dubai covers the various levels of primary, secondary and collegiate teaching same as any other emirate of the UAE. Many of the public and private schools are already serving not only the Emiratis but also the expatriates. The medium of instruction continues to be English in most of the schools. The schools need to be certified and the cause is spear-headed by The Ministry of Education of the UAE. The fees varies according to the facilities and the standard offered by them. In July 2005, The Dubai Education Council was established for the development of education sector in the emirate.
Primary Education
The schools like Dubai English Speaking School, Jebel Ali Primary School, Jumeirah Primary School, Horizon School and King’s School offer education on the milestones of British Education till the child is eleven. Some of the private schools also conduct entrance tests. Some of the schools like Delhi Private School, Dubai Modern High School and many more offer education to the expatriates and teach according to the CBSE or ICSE Indian syllabus.
Secondary Education
The schools like Dubai British School, Dubai College, Jumeirah College etc. are the institutions which are all British offering GSCE and A-levels to the children from eleven to eighteen years of age. Some of the schools also offer IGSCE and IB courses to the expatriates. A number of schools called K-12 schools offer American Syllabus from kindergarten to grade 12.
Tertiary Education
Though many of the expatriates are observed sending their children back to their homeland or western universities, a major number of foreign recognized universities have been established in the emirate over the last ten years including the famous American University in Dubai.
