Dubai astounded the athletics world by introducing the richest running competition of all times, the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon lastly came up to the emirates streets. It is the leading line-ups in the Middle East history. This annually held race is soon going to start on 22nd Jan 2010 in Dubai. This marathon tracks a clockwise route within the city, encircling many foremost landmarks within the city of Dubai. This biggest racing event starts from World Trade Centre and will finish at the same destination from where it started. For those who have just finished their course, much needed munchies are stored there at the finishing point. The course of the marathon is quiet simple and flat, however, at Dubai Creek there is a slight incline for that matter.
The runners from here take the route at the Shindagha Tunnel under the Creek and they all exit at the Deira Gold Souq. The Garhoud area of the city is the sharpest on the route and then after that its quiet a trouble-free run till the finishing point. As far as the costing of the marathon is concerned, it is as follows:
Cost for Marathon - $80-$100
Cost for a 10Km jog - $40-$50
Cost for a 3Km fun run - $10-$12

The Ethiopian running legend, Haile Gebrselassie has named this marathon as one of his favorite long distance events. As he was asked to name five such events which hold a very special place in his heart and this Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon was one of them. In the last two visits to this marathon he has missed out on a world record. So, if interested in participating in the event, get yourself registered, however entries for the 10Km run have been closed.
